more reasons to flee the country while you still can.  Reply with quote

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/07/14/1026185141232.html

"A pilot program, described on the government Web site www.citizencorps.gov, is scheduled to start next month in 10 cities, with 1 million informants participating in the first stage. Assuming the program is initiated in the 10 largest US cities, that will be 1 million informants for a total population of almost 24 million, or one in 24 people.

Historically, informant systems have been the tools of non-democratic states. According to a 1992 report by Harvard University's Project on Justice, the accuracy of informant reports is problematic, with some informants having embellished the truth, and others suspected of having fabricated their reports."

this frightens me. my friend said "everytime they get information illegally, they're just going to say a citizen informed them." what do you think?

personally i think there should be an amendment preventing the children of former presidents from becoming president (anti-dynasty amendment?). not a whole lot of good that would do us now, though, i suppose.

the Patriot Act, and Department Of Homeland Security(over 100 agencies combined into a gestapo agency), combined with this domestic informant system will undoubtedly be the beginning of a new era of government in the US. I can guarantee that we will lead interesting lives, but I would not want to be a member of the next generation to come since by then the world will likely NOT be a happy place.
