^^^^^^^

Yeah, Dorian Concept is in the come up. He's even credited with playing keys on the new Flying Lotus album.

Madlib is my hero. This is pretty much the only lab video I could find of his.

Just discovered this dude. Pretty cool beatmaking vid. Love how he plays so much of the music himself.

Dood, I will say it again, I'm not sure I remember what your older music sounded like ( I may be conflating it with someone else's), but you have struck a rich vein recently. That was dope.

Hey, Out of curiosity I applied a few plugins to that track to see what it'd sound like. Kind of at the expense of clarity, but it's a quick mix. Id like to add a whole bunch more pan/frequency wobble and stutter.

edit: Just realized you might not want such easy access to the files. Tell me if I should keep this thread a bit harder for observers to scoop up.

Its all good. I've got beats for days. I like what you did here. I didn't put any mastering plug-ins on it after I exported the mix.

Thanks for the compliments...and I dig plug-ins/effects you added. Curious to know what you used, because it added a little character and brought forth some detail that was masked. If I had more time, I would def add more and structure it more like a song. I figured there would be some value in a quick turnaround, too.

i figured it wa a quick mix. I just got hyped up. I wouldnt mind working on the multitracks for that one a bit. Some exquisite corpse back and forth type deal. Inspiring stuff.

edit: Oh and here's what got thrown on it real quick before I had to leave the house.

Overall master track gets heavy, frequency sensitive, compression (secret) and a tape saturation emulator (Steinberg Magneto), and a limiter

Throw a send track of the dry signal to another channel
The fx chain for this send track-
1. cut the low frequency, poke a little hill up in the mid high range.
2. pop in an automatically circulating stereo panner/position simulator to give some extra depth and a subliminal swirly effect.
3. Have a delay plugin ready. When each pair of weird wails come in, pop it on by hand in an envelope that matches the onset of the sound and drops out quick at the end of it.
Then also do a pass where you dial up feedback just at the half end of the wail.
4. That little stuttering effect you put in hanging out between the wail pairs. I threw a plugin called skidder on it. -Which kinda shutters sounds on and off and has a dial that enhances the stereo spreadness of whatever its processing.
5. Finally dose the whole send track with a light touch of Amplitube guitar amp fx. I think the preset is referred to as jazz combo or something. Just kinda drizzle it on there. Adds a bit of reverb and mucks the tones a little.

Mortalthoughts that type of shit is just too funky for me to know what to do with. Kind of a classic "Dusty Fingers" sample. They are all about that european funk.

This is the type of stuff I've been into sampling from for a while now. I think it was all those years of listening to Spaceways radio thet done did et to me.

Crash Coffin

And some Flower Traveling Band (sorry, can't find an album version on youtube)

And Arundhati Roy

And a little Ludacris/Little Jon

becomes a speakercrusher

Man, I think I would mix that one totally different nowadays. I'd do most everything different actchally.

Oh shit, and I forgot. Gallagher makes an appearance on this joint too.

^^^There's a really nice moment in here from 24-32 or so.
And good flute too. Then it goes to shit as many of these pieces are so wont to do.

^^^This was another track by him I cut from. 41-50 or so is the best. The guitars in the background actually get burnished out really well.

^^^It made this thing. (only an excerpt because the rest sucks too hard)
5 Years ago! Holeee shit.

^^^But then this one is kinda also a brazil piece using different samples a few years later.

This is a trip down memory lane here. Like looking at old school pictures or something.

Enough behind the scenes, though. I got sidetracked looking through the sample vault.
