Anyone listening/watching (to) this stuff?

It's sort of occult screwtape dubstep for bloggers.

I more ask to see if anyone has any good links for sites that are aggregating this stuff in a more user friendly way?

Aaah, so that's what Witch House is. A friend of mine who's been playing house and disco sorts of stuff mentioned it to me a few weeks back and that was the first I'd heard of it. I had no idea it was like this! Bizarre. I've seen you mention the second name there though, with the crosses in it. The first video looks like some old gialli stuff, crazy.

I can offer you no information about this but I'm sure there are some blogs out there giving up the goods - pretty mad stuff by the sounds of it.

This is where I first heard about it:

There's more videos and band names there.

Yeah if you follow that video back to youtube, there's like 50 videos like that, each more creepy than the last. I've been watching them on loop throughout the past few weeks on the TV, much to the chagrin of my partner who finds the genre rather creepy.

Cool, I'll have a dig. I actually quite like the sound of this - I never really got into dubstep - I don't hate it, it just never clicked with me... This sounds more like something I could listen to though. Witch House is just a funny name too.

Cherrystones are dope - this isn't Witch House, but as far as I know it's very much on the gialli side of things. Way more like the old soundtracks by Goblin and folk like that.

You brought it up in a previous thread and it sounded intriguing. I downloaded a bunch to get the idea. I like it enough but some of it seems kind of half-assed/amature. So far I quite like oOoOo and S A L E M from what I've heard. I prefer the more ethereal songs from Burial that seem to do the same thing but better. BUt as a genre, I think I'm on board.

How can you call this House or liken it to dubstep when it doesn't even have a beat?

Yeah I think this definitely scratches the same itch for me as Burial. Balam Acab is really good too, if you haven't heard that yet.

A lot of it is half-assed at this point. I decided it was worth it anyways. It's an addictive little scene.

So, witch house is when you do that 800 percent time streching thing to popular songs?

Essentially. It's Screwtapes for Goths.

Here's another example:

I think the key elements of the scene are the slowed down loops, haunting vocals, giallo occult film references, and the weird names.

Another way to describe it might be Neo-Suspiria Soundtrack Music.

It's not a new sound. Like Sole points out, he's been rapping over similar music for years. Cocorosie I think are also borderline in that style. Burial very much so.

But part of being Witch House is the aesthetic and self-awareness of the scene.

Shit will be over and played out in like three months, if it's not already. But for now it scratches an itch IMO. I also think the music is aware it's disposable by the way. Which is an element to the scene as well.

It's sort of lazy cool music with an intentionally short shelf life.

This is the darker cousin to chillwave. I can dig this stuff (doesnt hurt having good looking witches in the video. Those are some fine ass witches). And I don't think there is a correlation between "house" music and "witch house". I'm liking all this hazy drugged out music coming out lately.

Yeah, fair enough... I guess it just wasn't at all what I expected and isn't really my kind of thing.

Put a donk on it.
