I like a ton of beers out there, and many of the ones already listed. Old Chub by Oskar Blues is one of my favorite recent discoveries. Smuttynose has been one of my standard go-tos the past year. But along with good beers, there are a great many bad beers out there too.

Recently I decided to try a Magic Hat winter sampler 12 pack. Most Magic Hat beers are ok, running slightly above average across the board for a craft brewery, but their marketing is definitely a lot better than their beer. In the sampler was something called "Wooly" that read "with spruce" on the label. The moment I read that I knew this beer was probably going to suck, and oh man, did it ever suck. It had all the charm of a glass of dank, moldy basement water.

I sent the picture below to Magic Hat Brewing today:

Consider yourself warned!

I also tried Rogue's Voodoo Doughnut ale, which completely missed the mark. I wouldn't pay $2 for it, let alone the $12/bottle that it costs. But again, cool bottle design:

someone needs to get on this in metro detroit
bacon dounuts and a tasty sounding craft beer in a cafe?!?
damn michigan keeps getting lamer by the day...

michigan has a lot of great craft breweries...
...and brewery/pubs/grills/cafe/restaurants..

Be about it, there is plenty of good beer in your area

oh and dude talking about younger, yeah it's awesome but you won't find it in a bottle.

I forget about Shorts Brewery, also up in Traverse City. They have some really great stuff as well. Michigan is chock full of great places to drink.

Magic Hat is awful all around. I got a sampler pack as well and 3 of the beers are night undrinkable. Pistil, Blind Faith on tour, #9 or something like that. They've been in my crisper drawer for 6+ months now. I'm waiting to offload them on someone who likes IPAs that taste like flowers.

Well that's a good thing. There's nothing stopping you from going down to the local liquor store and perusing their wares.

Whatchall know about some Unicorn cask ale? Fucking superb, with a rich, nutty finish. I felt like a God drinking it on the shores of Loch Lomond, by a crackling fireplace with a bear rug underneath my boots. So maybe my newfound love for it is purely circumstantial, but I don't care. I've never felt more manly.

POW! Look at that majestic steed.
