Not really a movie but I have to give my absolute highest recommendation to Reggie Watt's comedy / music / improv special "Why Shit so Crazy?" It's streaming on Netflix and is some of the weirdest most brilliant shit I've seen in a long while.

Dude reminds of Sage is in his general disregard for normalcy.

That was really good. I watched Hodgman's last night. So good.

I thought the new Superman was about as good as a film about an empathetic alien god is going to be. This love I'm seeing for the previous installments is crazy to me. The Christopher Reeves ones were corny as all fuck and the last one was perhaps even cornier.

The New Star Trek? Not as good as the last one, but it was cool. Not really buying Spock as such a badass though.

Gatsby was pretty but kinda wack.

But, I did see Upstream Color and I can't quit thinking about it. The music is great. Makes me want to buy a good digital camcorder and try to make a film. Really cool.

Other than that, I finally saw Moonrise Kingdom and loved it. That girl should be a star. She has that Michelle Williams/Carey Mulligan sadness at the age of 12.

I gotta see Europa Report. And I wonder if there's any way I could drag my lady to see Pacific Rim.

Oh I forgot about Cloud Atlas. I thought it was pretty good. Tom Hanks and Halle Berry's future dialogue was pretty hilarious, but I think it's great that someone is able to make a big budget film like that. Now if we could just give some of that money to Shane Carruth so he can make A Topiary.

World War Z was decent, but clearly whitewashed for kids. What kind of zombie movie doesn't have gore and some f-bombs? But it was entertaining, nonetheless. You can't go wrong with a rugged and competent Pitt.

What sets World War Z apart from other zombie movies besides Brad Pitt?

1) no gore
2) global aspect, with a lot of traveling
3) emphasis on finding cure
4) based on book
5) idiotic decisions and unbeievable luck of a former UN employee

Riddle me this: if a seasoned man of the world escapes one big city with his family, why would he then enter another big city a few hours later with his family? Newark isn't Philly, I know, but still. And chances of surviving a plane crash that you caused with a grenade? Lower than an actual zombie apocalypse.

I'm sure this was meant as a joke, but I would actually like to see this combination.
