Anyone watch The International 3 last weekend? Biggest prize pool in gaming history? Bueller?

If not, you missed the 1.4 million dollar Dream Coil by Alliance's S4.

Dead Rising is fun, but I think it functions best in small doses. I enjoyed the two arcade versions (Case Zero and Case West) far more than the first game. Making weapons is fun, but they break frequently. The one thing I never cared for was the time constraints. Too much pressure that reduced the fun. But the game is free, so why not?

I'm done with State of Decay until additional content is released.

Countless restarts, three end-to-end playthroughs. All the achievements. I got at least 80 hours out of it, maybe more. That game is brilliant.

Buggy, and only the kernel of a much larger idea, but brilliant. I'm pretty sure it's going to totally ruin Dead Island: Riptide for me. Maybe not, I did love the first one.

I'm going to start Metro: Last Light next. After that the official backlog is:
- Gears of War: Judgment
- Dead Island: Riptide

_If_ I get through those before GTAV comes out, I'm tempted to also try:
- DLC for BioShock Infinite.
- Halo 4 (legendary solo run, plus some of the co-op missions)
- Getting back into Hitman: Absolution.
- Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
- Remember Me
- Dynasty Warriors 8
- The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
- Lost Planet 3

Somewhere below those on the list is a replay of the full Mass Effect trilogy with DLC, and perhaps even revisiting Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2 for their DLC.

Any PC players just a FYI if you haven't heard about the Humble bundle from Origin. Pay what you want for 8 games, it all goes to charity.

i did, honestly... i'd give it a miss until steam flogs it for cheap.

way way overhyped, the writing really isn't that good, granted it gets the 90s memorabilia right, but it looks like it runs on the quake 2 engine and nothing much happens. I'd have given it 70 rather than all the 90's its getting... I felt dear esther did a way, way better job of the 'interactive story' thing. Gone home asks you to read great walls of text, dear esther tell just as much story in environment and level design choices.

If you want a real gem of an indie game check out 'the dream machine' I love it

NEVER work right since i got windows 8, ive been trying and trying to find what is up to get them to work good again and i have no idea and have just wrote them off as losses

its a shame because both of these games are tons of fun

the 8.1 preview is available for download. I've been running it, and I think it is a decent improvement. I never use metro apps, period.

As far as games not working on Windows8, it is more than likely your graphics drivers. Did you try to update them? When i switched to 8.1 BF3 stopped working, but updating the NVIDIA drivers fixed the issue.

Deadlight was an extremely well-done platformer. The depth of field in each level was incredible, turning an average game into a great one, stylistically speaking. The only problem was that I found myself wanting to explore each level in deeper detail. Anyway, the mechanics were very simple, the controls easy to learn, and the actual gameplay just challenging enough. A few sections were oddly difficult at first, and then quite easy once I learned what needed to be done. Combat was only necessary a handful of times, and was only rewarding when the odd decapitation occurred. Otherwise it could actually be quite annoying. Thankfully, the game's checkpoint feature always put you in reasonable spot with full health, so the game was never really difficult. I also found that the diary pages added a nice backstory to the game, and were worth reading through. All and all, it was well worth the money, despite the lack of replay value.
