I don't think you HAVE to have a wristband, but wristbands and badges get priority. If it's not at full capacity once all of those people are allowed in, they let others in. If they pay for a ticket? I don't know how it works at that point. But it's really interesting how much money is tossed around when none of the bands are getting paid. Quite the racket. I wonder if anyone's investigated how all of this works. Lastly, who are these people paying for SXSW badges? Might need to start a new thread to see if anyone can testify to buying one.

I think we're gonna try to make it from the DFDub. From what I remember, you're correct; wristbands and badges/passes get in first and then they sell tickets. It was fuckin chaos when I was down innnn 2005? Show was The Prophet Bar....only spot I could find to watch the show was standing in a walkway to the bar and I had so many asses rub against my crotch....some good, most not. It was a blueball kind of night but overall 9/10 would bang again.

That's correct. Most shows typically charge around $10 entry... some a little more depending on the artist and venue. If you do not have a wristband it's best to get there early and stay. If you try to get there shortly before the artists that draw more of a crowd and the venue is typically more full, they will usually wait until after the set starts to make sure all the badge holders and wristbands get in first so you may miss some. Had that happen to me many times over the years but now i just get a wristband every years since i work during the day and miss all the day parties and free stuff.

nicely far enough away that i can conceivably arrange for someone to look after my child whilst i traipse to Brighton..

any plans for Speech Development to be facilitating the purchase of the vinyl, or is it CD only via them? because i'll pay that shipping if needed, but obviously it'd be nice if it was locally sourced.

Yeah, they will have the vinyl available. They're just waiting on info for how long it will take to get manufactured. It'll will probably come out a month after the release which is similar to our situation.

Great show last night in Austin. Been going to Sage's shows for over 10 years and I always enjoy them but this was one of my favorite, if not my favorite, experience yet. Without a doubt, a lot of that is attributed to the new record. Shit is bananas. Hearing the new stuff live just solidified how good this album is. Usually you go to shows craving the classics but all i wanted was to hear every new song live.... but the classics were great as well. Very well planned set list. Loved the addition of visuals in the background. Performance was as heartfelt and powerful as ever. It feels more controlled with age maybe which is a good thing in my book. Make 'em purr.

Salute, Passenger! Very cool seeing you and the Austin crew once again. It'll be a sad day when I play Austin and I don't see any of those familiar faces.
